“The week with you and Xavier was truly magical. There could have been no better way for us to have seen and done and enjoyed so much.”
Experience the wonders of the south of France
Weeks with Mary-James and Xavier are totally customized according to a group’s interests. Possibilities and choices abound. There is no set itinerary because every week is different and because every group is different.
…markets of Provence. Whether a village street market or a daily covered market, your senses will be overwhelmed.
…Roman ruins. Step back in time to 49BC when Julius Caesar and the Roman world came to the South of France.
…picturesque backcountry villages. Walk the narrow streets of these tiny places. Photograph the beautiful colored shutters. Enjoy a pastis on the tree shaded square.
…wineries. The area around Les Arcs is the oldest and largest wine producing region in France. Historical as well as beautiful wineries are abundant. Rosé is king!
…artists and their museums. There are many from which to choose. Picasso, Matisse, Chagall as well as the Maeght
…D-Day in Provence. Yes, Provence. Visit the WWII Rhone American cemetery and learn about the Americans who landed in August of 1944.
…gardens. There are seaside tropical gardens, formal French gardens, whimsical private gardens. Even the roadsides can be a garden of poppies, scotch broom, irises, etc.
…beaches. Enjoy a morning or afternoon on one of the beautiful beaches of the Riviera. Have your own spot with personal service.
…local artisans. Visit the ateliers of the finest local craftsmen who are passionate about their products….olive wood, santons, faience
…tastes and flavors. Lots of opportunities to taste and buy Provence specialities…olives, cheeses, wines, truffles, honeys and even vinegar.
…festivals. Mary-James and Xavier are always aware of local happenings.
…personal interests. Painting, photography, golf, cooking are all possibilities.
And, finally, the most talked about aspect of the week are the relaxed and casual evenings.
After a day of touring, we return to the house, get comfortable, maybe go to the pool, or sit on the porch, enjoy some wine and hors d’oeuvres, and have one of Xavier’s wonderful dinners.
Mary-James and Xavier would love to welcome you to Provence. Having led trips together across the South of France for almost 20 years, they are not only knowledgeable, but also passionate about what they do. Xavier’s home is located outside the medieval village of Les Arcs sur Argens about halfway between Saint Tropez and the Gorge du Verdon (the Grand Canyon of France).
Trips are for 7-8 people, double occupancy.
